U9
U9A with tryouts
Players who make U9A team after tryouts will participate in a slightly more competitive league. These teams typically practice more often, participate in more tournaments and their games will take place across East Winnipeg arenas .
Players who are aren’t selected for U9A will be placed on a U9 house league team.
U9 House League
All games and practices take place at East End arena. Teams practice one evening during the week and games take place Saturday and/or Sunday mornings between 7:15AM & 10:00AM starting times.
Season runs mid-October to early March.
At U9; the transition to normal hockey begins. Scores are kept. Games take place on half ice and players play 2 minutes shifts. Players can be given penalties (although a player will only serve the remaining time of their shift for the penalty). Teams will play two 24 min periods with the buzzer sounding every 2 mins to shift players on and off the ice. Each period players will spend 8 mins in the development zone if the team has enough players.
Players should receive an e-mail from their coaches at the start of October.
