In accordance with the extension to January 22nd, 2021 of the Public Heath Orders that have paused Minor Hockey since October 31st, 2020, Hockey Winnipeg would like to update the community and our members with our current position.

At this point in time, Hockey Winnipeg and it’s ten Minor Hockey Associations are committed to providing our members with organized minor hockey programming at such time as the public health orders will permit.  Once the public health orders allow group sports to resume and indoor sports facilities to re-open, Hockey Winnipeg will assess the existing restrictions and implement appropriate programming through our Area Associations. Our priority is to engage the youth in our community in safe, fun and beneficial activities. We are not willing to abandon minor hockey programs for our membership this year.

The question has been raised in the community about refunding registration and team fees.  It is still the hope of Hockey Winnipeg to put those fees to good use for programming this season.  We are not able to issue refunds at this point in time, but the Executive of Hockey Winnipeg is committed to providing fair refunds to our members once we are able to determine exactly what can be done in terms of our program length and content.

Hockey Winnipeg would like to encourage all of our members to continue to practice the fundamentals of safety during this pandemic and we would like to remind everyone to put the safety of your community first over the coming weeks.  We will get though this and get back to the sport we love soon.

Ian McArton

Executive Director, Hockey Winnipeg

As you are aware, the 2020/21 hockey season is currently on pause in an effort to reduce transmission of COVID19 in Manitoba.

We remain hopeful that hockey will resume in the New Year., and many are likely wondering about a partial refund of registration fees due to the shortened season. We will have no way of calculating everyone’s refund until the season is declared over by Hockey Winnipeg. At that time, refunds will be calculated by our Treasurer. This will be a large undertaking, so please remain patient. Some have asked if they can withdraw their child right now. Everyone is well within their rights to do so, but be advised that TMHA Financial Policy does not allow for registration fee refunds now that teams have been formed.

If you have further questions, we ask that you please be courteous and respectful towards the volunteers that are navigating the association through this unprecedented times.

All participants are required to use Manitoba’s COVID-19 screening tool before each session.

Screening can be completed online at    or in Interactive Voice Response (IVR) format at 1-877-308-9038.

Hockey Manitoba recently announced that they are moving to Phase 3 of the Return-to-Play (RTP) plan, and the start of the season is imminent.  Exhibition Game play is anticipated to start shortly after October 15, 2020 and Hockey Winnipeg is working diligently to develop a season schedule starting November 15, 2020.  Approvals for tournament exemptions will not be allowed for the first half of the season and potentially for the entire 2020-21 season.

We would like to share some important information with its' players and their parents/guardians in regards to the upcoming hockey season.

Our priority is to follow the guidelines established by the Hockey Manitoba Return to Play Document.

On Sept 1, we entered Phase 2 of Return to Play Protocol.

We can start our tryout process and tryouts will start Sept 12. Throughout the coming weeks, we will complete the evalations of our players, select our coaches and form our teams.

We will then start practicing and our coaches will develop our teams as we evolve  into Hockey Manitoba's Phase 3 Return to Play of league games .

The season fees have been set to equalize our costs associated with the season, if for some reason, the season is affected; – for example, no games or no league play; be assured the organization will arrange refunds accordlingly.

We ask your understanding as this  situation changes. Our volunteers are working hard to keep on top of the management of these processes needed.

So, when registering your player, please keep this information in mind.

Stay tuned for more updates.
